About the inn

The Astor House offers luxuriously comfortable, contemporary lodging in the small setting of an historic home. Whether you are passing through on your way to or from Door County or Michigan's UP, visiting the city for business travel, a Packer game (We DO NOT raise our rates for Packer game weekends!), to bike the Fox River Trail, or for a wedding night, anniversary, or a night away from the little ones, you will find the Astor House is your special place to stay in Green Bay.

We are conveniently located on Green Bay's east side, only blocks from downtown area and the popular Fox River Trail for biking and jogging. Lambeau Field, home of the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packer football team, is only four miles or about eight minutes away. We are only ten to fifteen minutes away from the Oneida Casino and Door County is only 23 miles from our from our driveway. We are close to the Meyer Theater, fifteen minutes from the UW Green Bay campus and the Weidner Center. The Astor House offers convenient off street parking for our guests.

Our five distinctively decorated rooms were created to cater to your comfort and convenience. Four of the rooms feature double whirlpool tubs. Most rooms also have a gas fireplace. Each room has a spacious private bath. All rooms have cable television, VCR and/or DVD, a stereo system with CD player and tape deck, small refrigerator, private telephone line, and air-conditioning. All rooms offer free wireless high-speed internet access.

After a great night's sleep in one of our comfy Queen or King beds, you will have the option of enjoying a delightful hot continental plus breakfast served to you in either our parlor or delivered to your door, complete with some of the best coffees and teas you are likely to find outside of your own kitchen.

Each year, the Astor House welcomes hundreds of new or returning guests from all over the world; people who have discovered the comfort, convenience, value, and warm hospitality of Green Bay's Bed and Breakfast. We invite you to visit our website and learn more about the Astor House. We look forward to greeting you on your visit to Green Bay!

The Stick-Style Victorian home was built by local attorney F. Adolph Watermolen in 1888. Major remodeling was done at the turn of the century by the home's most famous resident, Dr. Julius J. Bellin, M.D. Dr. Bellin was a prominent physician and surgeon in Green Bay in the early 1900s. He founded Bellin Hospital and Bellin School of Nursing. Through his work, Green Bay has become a major regional medical center for Northeast Wisconsin.

The restoration of the home received the Mayor's Award in 1994 and it has been featured in many television reports, newspaper and magazine articles, and Bed & Breakfast guidebooks.

The Laredo Room: $142

Queen bed with feather-bed pad, private bath, gas fireplace, TV, VCR, DVD player. This room is accessed through a rear entrance to the house. Wi-Fi access.

Tie up Old Paint at the stable (don't worry, we'll brush and water him for you) and throw yourself on our old-fashioned feather bed in Laredo. Imagine yourself in a lodge open to the western sky, complete with campfire.

While you're our guests, we invite you to enjoy the western art that makes this room the personal favorite of the innkeepers: peeled log furniture, antique Spanish pine armoire, mission bench, five-foot iron candlestick and ironwork table and chairs, Navajo rug, Indian prints and painted canoe paddles. Sleep soundly in our western fantasy and then use it as your base camp to explore the trails and streams of Northeastern Wisconsin. Oh, and please don't forget to use the spittoon.

Marseilles Garden Room: $159

Newly updated with pleasant soft colors and a large and inviting King bed. Other features include private bath, gas fireplace, flat panel TV, and double whirlpool in room. Wi-Fi access is also available.

It's summer in Provence, the district of France most favored by the Impressionist painters. As a matter of fact, here in the Marseilles Garden it's always midsummer night and you're in a bower of flowers beside a moonlit pool.

Pass beneath the arbor trellis, and enter an airy French boudoir decorated in moss green, coral and exotic whitewashed wicker. Trace the delicate ivy-laced headboard and bed crown. Float away in billows of mint green tulle curtains and ivory cutwork quilts and pillows. Turn down the tulip petal lights, play your favorite romance music and stretch out in the whirlpool room surrounded by flowers. The Marseilles Garden is made for lovers, whether it's your first night together or the perfect setting for a celebration of many years.

Hong Kong Retreat Room: $159

This is our largest room. Very private. Located on the third floor of the house and entered by your own private spiral staircase. This room truly is a retreat! Queen bed, private bath, gas fireplace, double whirlpool in room, flat panel TV, VCR/DVD player. Wi-Fi access.

It's been a tough week at work and you deserve a little pampering. Ascend, Taipan, your private spiral staircase to the Orient! Like a white kimono, the silky walls of this huge third floor suite will surround you with decadent luxury.

Lounge in the double jade whirlpool and gaze into the mysteries of the black tile fireplace. Surrounding you are original Japanese, Chinese, Balinese and Tibetan artworks complemented by a Kyoto Leaf comforter on the queen-size custom-made bed, brass inlaid nightstands, bamboo table and chairs, carved ivory lamp, rice paper screen and bonsai. A futon unfolds to provide a second full-size bed. Breathe in the spicy fragrance of incense and meditate for a moment on your success.

The London Room: $165

King bed, private bath, gas fireplace, double whirlpool in room. Wi-Fi access.

Imagine fog outside the windows -- a real pea-souper! But you're snug and cozy in The London Room, decorated in the style of the grandest city of the 19th century. You’ll be surrounded by authentic William Morris wallpaper in shades of rust and ochre; an antique maple fireplace surround and rocker; oriental rugs and a library full of English books; Queen Anne mahogany furniture, roses and British prints.

You might almost think you're in Victorian London, except for a few amenities never imagined by Bob Cratchit or Sherlock Holmes: a king size ironwork sleigh bed, a double whirlpool, refrigerator, stereo system and cable TV. Snuggle in and enjoy the elegance of another place and time ... a spot of tea anyone?

Amenities: King and queen beds, fireplace in guest rooms, TV in guest rooms, free wireless Internet, A/C, early morning coffee/tea available.
